The implants, which are small rods, are placed in the jawbone. These will function as replacements for missing tooth roots. When the implants are placed, they begin to fuse with the jawbone and improve the health of your jaw and teeth.
The Osseointegration Process
The teeth implants will need proper time to integrate themselves with your jaw. This process is called “osseointegration.” This will differ from patient to patient, but you should expect to wait a few months until your next appointment. Once the implants are fully fused to the jawbone, you can return for the final step of the dental implant procedure.
Tooth Replacement
At your final appointment, your dentist will anchor your replacement teeth, which have been prepared specially to match your natural tooth color. These attach to your teeth implants with a small connector called an abutment. The abutment anchors the replacement teeth, leaving you with a beautiful, complete smile!
